I can't adventure
Enough during school, but in
The summer? For sure!
Just this morning I received an email from the DAAD-RISE program that I applied to many moons ago, and they told me that I've been accepted as an intern for the summer! That means that I'll be heading to Germany in mid-May and coming back stateside in mid-August. The work will be at a university in Darmstadt, a town (or city?) just outside Frankfurt. I have lots of research to do before I get there, though; I don't know the first thing about work visas or apartment-hunting in other countries or train passes or driving internationally or... well, the list goes on.
Anyway, I'm sure that I'll be posting more about that as summer approaches. Right now I've got some PL homework to do. *sigh*

ReplyDeleteit is! I'm pretty excited that "Torsten" and "Valkyrie" will be working together, haha. :)
ReplyDeleteSo how's your German, anyway?
ReplyDeleteis your university going to pay 400 euros for your accomadation?
ReplyDelete@joe I don't... umm... know any. :s Working on that one.
ReplyDelete@amir I wish! I asked for a grant, but we'll see if I actually get it.
hey valkyrie , sorry i meant the university of darmstadt , coz i remember when i was going through the internship database that either university of darmstadt or univeristy of dortmund will pay the rise student 400 euros for accomadation plust the 650 euros from DAAD
ReplyDeletelet me know ;)
Really! I don't recall seeing that. I'm supposed to get the official letter sometime at the end of this month, so I will be sure to follow up when I know! :D
ReplyDeletehey valkyrie, have you heard anything about the accomadation stipend?
ReplyDeleteI'm supposed to get an email later this month when they send me the official forms... I'm starting to get nervous about time, though. :/ I will be sure to post when I find out, I promise! I did get my grant, though, from my school, so that's $1k that I don't have to worry about, at least.
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'm not getting anything extra for housing. Bummer. :(
ReplyDeleteBut my housing for the summer is going to be <$1000, which is kinda nice. :D
